….I can’t get enough of Etsy….

So, news is that ebay has gone to the dogs (I won’t reveal my sources) and Etsy is the next big thing! Truth is that Etsy has been snowballing along for quite a while now, since 2005, and is attracting a whole new set of e-buyers. And rightly so, my friends! If you haven’t discovered the DELICIOUSNESS that is Etsy, I’ll take a second to indulge you:

“Etsy is an online marketplace for buying & selling all things handmade.

Our mission is to enable people to make a living making things, and to reconnect makers with buyers.

Our vision is to build a new economy and present a better choice:

Buy, Sell, and Live Handmade.”

And if that hasn’t left you feeling warm and fuzzy (c’mon, are you made of STEEL???) you should read on:

“Etsy is an online marketplace for buying and selling all things handmade. We built it for those consumers conscious of the true value of handmade goods and their creators, as well as to give all independent artists the technology and information they need to make a living, making things. Our intention is to offer viable alternatives to mass-produced objects in the world marketplace, and to encourage consumers to be aware of the social and environmental implications of their purchases.” (source: http://www.etsy.com)

I spend hours in my day (don’t tell my husband!) surfing Etsy, I have bought many things from the plethora of talented Etsyans, and I HAVE to tell you, they are some of the SWEETEST people in the world. It must be the whole ‘vibe’ of the place, it gives you a little whack of Serotonin straight to the Orbito-frontal cortex and leaves you feeling chipper all day!! An Etsy purchase is not simply a “pay and send” transaction, it is quickly-shipped, beautifully wrapped parcel in the mail, tied up with ribbon, with a handwritten ‘Thanks’ note attached. Now, when was the last time D.J’s did that for you?
