I’m loving the NUDE!

30 Apr

Well, here in Oz it’s Fashion Week!!!  I love this time of year, all the collections changing and previewing for next Summer……it’s my light at the end of the FREEZING Winter tunnel!

A few of my favourite designers have showed really yummy collections in the past few days, and Kirrily Johnston nailed it in nudes today, with this sublime, relaxed collection:

Boys Behaving……nicely!

28 Apr

Everywhere I go, I see beautifully dressed girls.  Outfits thought through and pulled together with gorgeous accessories.  What is a little more rare to see, is a boy dressed beautifully….so it’s not suprising that when I find an image of a boy looking smart in his threads, I SAVE IT!!!  Here is a little of my collection below:

To celebrate this fabulous day, I thought I’d share my PrettyThingsFriday:

Mum, can I have some Missoni please?

22 Apr

Hang on, did I hear someone say “Missoni”?  Oooooh, that’s right, it was ME!  While spending time (and let’s face it, A LOT of time) hanging about on, I came across the latest collection from iconic fashion house MISSONI!  I have adored Missoni since I was a wee young thing, always entranced by their bold use of colour and pattern.

While I was lamenting about being so gosh-darn COLD yesterday, I was trying VERY hard to visualise myself toasty warm, wrapped up and heavily draped with the latest offerings of Angela Missoni.  And I’m talking knits layered on so thick, one can barely MOVE!  Have a little peek below, and you’ll see what I mean!

So yes, I want it all…..maybe not to wear all at once….maybe

I got TAGGED!!

21 Apr

1. respond and rework: answer the questions on your blog, replace one question that you dislike with a question of your own invention, add one more question of your own.
2. tag other un-tagged people.

The Questions:

What is your current obsession? Figuring out where all my money goes.

Good fika place?(That would be coffee to us non-Swedes) My house…..on a serious note though, MY HOUSE!!!  I have found it very hard to find good coffee in Canberra, although I have heard glowing reviews about Praga in Dickson….I can neither confirm nor deny…..

Do you nap a lot? Nope, not a chance, chasing 3 babies all day leaves ZILCHO time for naps….

Who was the last person you hugged? Possibly my youngest child….she’s VERY huggable in a squishy, baby way!

What’s your favorite dinner? Salt and Pepper Quail, vietnamese style……*drools all over keyboard*

What was the last thing you bought? Pad Thai for lunch at the Canberra Thai Festival on Sunday

What are you listening to right now? The sound of silence as my babies sleep….and possibly the crunch of baklava as I chew….

What is your favorite weather? Absolutely without a doubt, SUMMMMER!  Bring on the humidity and heat baby, I’m ready for it!

What’s in your bathroom cabinet? Not much at the moment, considering I just moved house and still have yet to unpack my beauty gear.  Eye cream, face serum and toothbrush….so far!

Say something to the person/s who tagged you. I’m very happy to see a fellow Canberrian blogger with YUMMY style!!

What is your favorite tea flavor? Earl Grey

What did you want to become as a child? A fashion designer……..HAHAHHAHAHA….*cough*……I need a new goal!

What do you miss? Thailand and QLD and the people in those places that I love….

What’s your favorite brand of jeans? I have no fave’s here…..whatever makes my bum look good!

What designer piece of clothing would you most like to own (new or vintage)? Hmmmm, a 1920’s Vionette frock………actually, just give me a truckfull of 1920’s frocks and I’ll settle for that!

If you could go anywhere in the world for the next hour, where would you go? Thailand….but I’d have to get someone to babysit, and steal my hubby along for the ride……

Who do you want to meet in person? My Grandmother’s family (she was an orphan, but her extended family are Italian and somewhere in Melbourne)

What is your most challenging goal right now? To be creative while at home looking after 3 babies and somehow earn cash from it!!  *laughs at the HILARITY*

What’s your 5 year plan? (summarised)

2009:  Try not to go nuts: Send child 1 off to preschool (build an empire)

2010:  Try not to go nuts: Send child 2 off to preschool and child 1 to prep (hire help at said empire)

2011:  Try not to go nuts: Send child 2 off to prep and child 1 to school (have empire making profit)

2012:  Try not to go nuts: Send child 3 off to preschool, send child 2 off to school and child 1 carries on (hire more staff to run empire)

2013:   Try not to go nuts: Send child 3 off to prep, child 2 and child 1 carry on…….OMG, what????  (travel overseas regularly to attend ‘meetings’ re: EMPIRE!)
Are you very, VERYexcited about your holiday to Thailand in June? Why yes, YES I AM!!! (uncanny!)

I’m tagging:

Now, back to the weather……..

We’re just heading into Winter here in Aussieland, and living in Canberra (where things cool off rather depressingly fast) I’ve been bitten by Mr Jack Frost a little too early for my liking….

The weather of late has had me dreaming of warmer things, involving SUPER WARM knits, MASSIVE coats and LUSH layers.  Here’s some pretty pictures that thawed my toes just a little…

I apologise to those in the Northern Hemisphere, I know you want to hear about yummy Summery things right now, and I’m with you on that!  But for this little black ducky, I fear it’s going to be a long, cold winter….and I’d really better start looking for Winter woolies to keep me toasty! *wanders off, pondering to self*  Hmmm, I wonder if the bank balance will approve of some Missoni this season???

Wicked, dark and clever are just some words I’d use to describe his sensational artworks!  He has wit, he has charm and he is DEADLY GOOD with a pen in hand!!  Ross is ever the man of few words, but I managed to squeeze a sentence or two from the laidback lad!

“Hi! I’m Ross and I draw and paint all kinds of neat stuff every day. My originals and prints will brighten your household and bring good luck.  I live in New Orleans.  I’m from Pennsylvania.  I’m not scared of hurricanes.  I also draw live caricatures. They’re fun at parties.

I eat spaghetti at least 4 days a week. I wear cowboy shirts every day. I learned to ride a bicycle this year. I flip coins to make decisions a lot. Pleased to meet you. Feel free to contact me for any reason. We can be pals.”
